A one-day program
on the shores of Lake Samish
for pre-schoolers through fourth grade

Awake Your Senses!

Sensory awareness is what it is all about on this adventurous day!  Kids will open up all of their senses as they explore creation.  Discover diversity on a scent scavenger hunt, squish mud beneath your toes on a swamp walk, create a mini world through the eyes of a Leprechaun, or look for Salmon in the creek.

Whether on hands and knees, through a microscope, on the run, blindfolded, or from a bug’s perspective, your class will go home with a new understanding and appreciation for the world in which we live.

Cooperative games that focus on our abilities to work together to accomplish a goal can be integrated into the program.  We are challenged as people to work cooperatively to preserve our planet, and we are only motivated to do so when we learn to appreciate it.  So, come, let this nature filled day be a touchstone for you!!

Sample Schedule
This is a sampling of opportunities that await your class!  Many of these are top secret for kids, but will help give teachers an idea of activities..A sack lunch is recommended, and students are encouraged to dress warmly, wear sturdy shoes, and bring raingear.  While there is shelter for adverse weather, our intention is to be out in nature..

Earth Walk
This series of activities from the Institute for Earth Education includes Grokking (Befriend a rock, introduce it, and then, after it mingles with other rocks, see if you can find your rock again), Natures Paintbrushes (paint the environment with water and watch it come to life) and others!

Scent Scavenger Hunt
Bark, mint, grass, salmonberries, and skunk cabbage are all unique to your olfactory sense!  Sniff out the difference!

Blind Date
Blindfolded, your partner will lead you to a tree, where you will be introduced to your first date!  Get to know your date really well and come back to the starting point.  See if you can find your tree again with eyes open!

Micro Parks
In the land of the little people small things are highly regarded!  Make a miniature park with a partner and visit other parks when “park season” opens.

Solo Walk
With out the distractions of others, you will be amazed at what you discover!  A guided path will point out cool things and ensure you find your way.

Swamp Walk
Journey on this the perfectly mucky trail, barefoot or with water shoes, and feel the gooey mud slide between your toes!  You can scream with delight on this very memorable trek!

Field Games
Parachute games, tag games, and environmental games that explore animal traits—like camouflage in “Hawk and Mouse” are a great way to round out the day with explosive energy.

Your day can be tailored to fit your time frame, from 2-6 hours.

$15 per participant full day (5-6 hrs)
$10 per participant half day (3 hrs)

Scheduling is usually in the early part of the week.  Give us a call, and schedule your class adventure!!
