Outdoor Education

Are you a teacher looking to get your kids outside for some hands-on learning? Kinesthetic learners will love their time at Lutherwood. Public and private schools welcome!

Our 2 day, 3 night curriculum is based off Washington State Standards.

Learn about:

Water Ecology - Students learn about the water cycle and have the opportunity to explore our creeks for macro- invertebrates. We also have a Salmon Stream that students are able to observe!

Botany - Lutherwood has an abundance of flora and fauna such as skunk cabbage, stinging nettle, fern and horsetail that students get to experience.

Geology - Students study the structure of the earth and different types of rock and then have the opportunity to go out on the trails and experience weathering, erosion and types of rock themselves.

Ecology - Students get to observe many animals up close and personal at Lutherwood and learn how they interact with each other and the environment. They also get to dissect owl pellets (pictured to the right) and identify the animal skeletons they find!

Exploration - This is a time for students to experience the outdoors on their own recording what they see, hear, smell, and feel.

Team Building - Students are given challenges that require them to work together to accomplish a task.

Can be added by request - Canoeing, Kayaking, Archery, Field Games and Campfire.
