Lutherwood is located on beautiful Lake Samish, just south of the very cool city of Bellingham, Washington. (Bellingham is just 30 minutes from the Canadian border)! With Western Washington University, Mount Baker Wilderness, proximity to the San Juan Islands and rocky beaches (not to mention yummy food), Bellingham is a great spot to land for a few months (or longer)!

Because this is a summer camp, you will be sleeping primarily in one of our enclosed cabins. We have additional housing based on staffing needs, but you will have a secure space to keep your things each week.
We are also a community! While there may be opportunities to sleep in an individual area as the need arises (for instance, if you are ill), plan to share a cabin with some of your fellow amazing staff members!

During Staff Training, 1-2 weekends of work may be required, with additional mid-week time off to compensate for being “on.”
Once the “summer schedule” begins, typical time off begins around 5:00 pm on Fridays and ends on Sunday morning. All staff are contracted to work two non-consecutive weekends throughout the summer, and assignments are made during staff training, depending on requested time off.

Summers in western Washington are amazing! June is typically in the 60s and 70s with chances of rain. July and August are in the 70s and 80s with lots of sunshine. Nights are cool but not cold. We always advise you bring lots of layers, and sunscreen, too!
Thank you to our Summer Staff 2025 Team!
We had a phenomenal summer at Camp Lutherwood. It would not have been possible with our incredible Staff members, volunteers, Leaders-in-Training, paramedics, nurses, our Resource Pastor volunteers, and our Mini-Staff member, Rowan.
